Step 5 - You Do Not Meet the College's Requirements
The College will tell you what you are missing and how you can gain the qualifications you need. Some of the reasons you may not meet the requirements are:
- your bachelor's degree is not the equivalent of an Ontario degree
- your teacher education program was not at least one year long or did not include practise teaching
- you were not certified to teach in the jurisdiction where you received your teacher education
- your English/French proficiency does not meet the requirements of the College.
Do not be discouraged! Many upgrading opportunities are available to help you get certified. Teaching is a rewarding career. The investment is worth it.
