You have a university degree, and you are a current member of:

  • the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA)
  • the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMAP)
  • the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA)

CMA Ontario has a professional advanced standing (PAS) policy for members of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). To be eligible for advanced standing under this policy, you must:

  • have a degree from a recognized university
  • have qualified as a professional accountant by completing the entire AICPA, ICMAP or ACCA program. If you are an ACCA, you must also have completed Advanced Performance Management as one of your options.
  • be a member in good standing of AICPA, ICMAP or ACCA with no outstanding disciplinary charges or outstanding complaints that are currently being investigated
  • not have previously attempted and failed a CMA Canada qualifying examination
  • declare any previous criminal convictions and/or any previous disciplinary actions against you
  • be currently employed in a qualifying management accounting position in Canada

If this describes you, you are eligible to apply for exemption from the CMA prerequisite studies requirement and the CMA Entrance Examination.

Step 1: Submit your qualifications to CMA Ontario for evaluation

Step 3: Complete the CMA Strategic Leadership Program and, concurrently...
Step 4: Fulfill the two-year practical work experience requirement
Step 5: Apply for accreditation as a CMA

You are a member in good standing of your professional accounting body if you meet the body’s standards, your membership fees are up to date, and you are not currently subject to any disciplinary actions or penalties.
