Path One
You have a university degree, and you are a current member of:
- the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) or
- the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) or
- CPA Australia (CPAA)
CMA Ontario has mutual recognition agreements with these three international accounting bodies. To be eligible for advanced standing under a mutual recognition agreement, you must:
- have a degree from a recognized university
- have qualified as a member of CIMA, CIPFA or CPAA by completing the entire CIMA, CIPFA or CPAA program
- be a member in good standing with CIMA, CIPFA or CPAA with no outstanding disciplinary charges or outstanding complaints that are being investigated
- not have previously attempted and failed a CMA Canada qualifying examination
- declare any previous criminal convictions and/or any previous disciplinary actions against you
If you meet all of the above requirements, you are exempt from the CMA Entrance Examination and the CMA Strategic Leadership Program.
