General Admission Requirements

To register with CGA Ontario and begin the qualification process to become a CGA, you must meet the following general admission requirements:

  • be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant or hold a valid study visa
  • be a resident of Ontario (you can have your academic credentials evaluated before you come to Ontario by submitting an application for transfer credits; however, you need to be resident in Ontario in order to enrol in CGA courses)
  • have good communication skills in English (you need to be able to use appropriate vocabulary and correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation in all written work)
  • be bondable (not have been found guilty of any criminal offences)

You do not need a university degree to begin the qualification process to become a CGA. CGA Ontario welcomes applicants with a variety of educational backgrounds, including:

  • a bachelor or master degree
  • a college diploma
  • some post-secondary credits

Even if you don't have any post-secondary education, you may be eligible to begin the CGA qualification process as a mature student if you are more than 21 years old, and you have two years of business work experience.
